Rants and Raves

Another thing that annoys me is that minors have no rights. Who decided that anybody under the age of 18 has no ability to think? And who says their parents do? Aren't you supposed to learn from your own mistakes? Why is it that for the first 18 years of your life, you are considered an idiot, unable to decide what's best for you, and then boom , you're 18, you can't drink yet, you already can drive (that's another thing, why can you drive when you're a minor? I'm not against it, as a matter of fact I'm all for it, but if you can't decide whether or not you wish to enter a legal contract, like get a job, so you have money to buy the car, why can you decide whether or not you can drive a car? It was my understanding that cars are considered to be dangerous, and you have to prove your intelligence to be able to drive them. Doesn't that mean that you have enough intelligence if you get a driver's license to be able to think for yourself? So shouldn't you stop being a minor at 16?) Anyways, sorta off subject there, but when you become 18, suddenly you discover you have all of these rights that you've never had before, and if you think about it, you have no rights right now. You can't do anything provided for in the constitution unless your parents consent. However, you can be convicted of a crime, and sentenced to juvenile prison, yes separate from other prisons, but nonetheless you should not be put in jail for performing a crime if you can't think, which is what the government seems to consider a fact. "Minors can't think. They suddenly gain the intelligence at the age of 18. Before then, they have no rights. All of their rights are held hostage by their parents." Okay, I'm finished. With something to think about, this is Ilya Sherman (if you don't/didn't go to T.H. Rogers, you won't get it).

Recently I was reading an article about how some other company was gonna buy out something that AT&T owned, and I realized just how much people don't like the world's number one companies. Why does everybody hate AOL, AT&T, and Microsoft? They're obviously number one because they're liked by some people. But everybody seems to hate them.* You know what made me realize it the most? On qool.com I was looking at the auctions and there were two different cordless phones. One was by IBM and one was by AT&T. The AT&T one was better. I need a cordless phone. But guess what? I bid on the IBM phone because that's how much I dislike AT&T. The IBM one wasn't better (actually, the first time, there was a different model and it was better, but I alwayz get my 100 daily coins by bidding on the IBM phone now [the worse one]) but I bid on it anywayz. No reason at all other than the fact that I hate AT&T. The leading company right now. I don't get it. I doubt I ever will.

Alrighty, this is what I think about religion. I am an atheist (no religion, I do believe in God), because I don't believe that every single word in the Bible is true. Some of it might be, but I think a lot of it has been made up. Anyways, another thing that I don't like about religion is that God is worshipped. I don't think that God, who loves each and every one of us, would want us to worship him. I think that he wants us to love him, but not to worship him. Otherwise, I wouldn't want to worship him, because that would make him a lot like a king, and 3 out of 4 people agree that royalty is bad. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that my belief is that if you believe in and love God, you would do good deeds and be a good person, rather than worshiping God and doing nothing good at all. I still can't believe that religious people consider themselves to be God fearing. That tells you something.
Recently a friend of mine told me that God fearing meant that they feared God in the same way that most kids fear their parents. I thought about this and decided that this doesn't really make sense either. You really shouldn't fear your parents in the first place. You should do things based upon your own personal values and if they coincide with your parents' then you have no reason to fear them and if your vaules don't coincide then you should follow your own values and not fear that your parents will punish you for disobedience. "Always stand for what's right, even if you're the only one standing." Therefore, you shouldn't fear God because if you trully believe that God is perfect then your values should coincide with God's and therefore you should have nothing to fear.

So you guys all know the theory that nobody is actually alive and that the whole thing is a dream. When you die, rather than going to an afterlife, you wake up, and continue your real life. Well, I never ignore a chance to come up with a paradox, so this is what I came up with. Everybody is eternal. This is because you are never really alive, you are always trapped in a dream. Realizing this is completely pointless because it just means that you know that you are eternally trapped with no hope of escaping. Because you are a dream of a person in a dream of a person in a dream... and you have dreams, and sometimes you dream in them. Etcetera. That's the paradox part. Something I just thought of is that maybe it does end somewhere, but the original being is God. Which would explain why we never see him. Lovely paradox, huh? Also, I think that dreams are very important, since that seems to be what life consists of anyways, and therefore, we should pay attention to our dreams because they are in a sense a shadow of what God thinks. Wow, now that I think about it, I begin to draw strange theories about what writers such as Terry Pratchett and Piers Anthony intended to say by some of the things they wrote, especially Piers Anthony. If you've read the Xanth series, then you'll probably get what I'm talking about. Otherwise, I'm not going to explain, so if you're really curious, go read the books. Although by the time you get to the one I'm talking about, you'll find that the puns are too many, and get a little bored.
Destiny is a similar type of concept. If you believe in it that doesn't change anything and you can't stop and do nothing and wait for destiny to take over because you are constantly in the midst of destiny and if you do stop and do nothing that is part of your destiny and eventually you realize that you really are doing nothing and get up to do something, which just goes to show...

*Well, actually, I don't hate Microsoft, but that's about it.
